Who qualifies for medical marijuana in Florida?

Only patients who are legal Florida residents and have been diagnosed with one of the qualifying conditions are eligible to receive medical cannabis in Florida.

  • Cancer
  • Epilepsy
  • Glaucoma
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Medical conditions of the same kind or class as or comparable to the others listed.
  • A terminal condition diagnosed by a physician other than the qualified physician issuing the physician certification.
  • Chronic nonmalignant pain caused by a qualifying medical condition or that originates from a qualifying medical condition and persists beyond the usual course of that qualifying medical condition.

    The first step to be accepted into the Florida Medical Marijuana Program is to schedule an appointment with Dr. Locketz to establish care for your qualifying medical condition. He will review your past medical records, evaluate you and determine if medical marijuana will be an effective treatment for your condition.

  • Physician Enters You into Medical Marijuana Use Registry

    Once you have been entered into the Registry by Dr. Locketz, you will receive emails with the subject line "Medical Marijuana Use Registry New User Account." One contains your user name and the second provides your temporary password.

  • Patient Applies for a Registry Identification Card

    Patients and caregivers may complete an electronic or paper application. For information and other resources, please visit the Instructional Guides for step-by-step instructions.

    Apply for an ID Card

  • Fill your order at a licensed Medical Marijuana Treatment Center

    Once your Identification Card application has been approved, you can contact a licensed medical marijuana treatment center (MMTC) and fill an order placed by your qualified physician. Purchases of medical marijuana can be made only from a state-approved MMTC.
